Short of it; i'm in the middle of my transmission rebuild, but we have to move. The transmission is completely out of the jeep and I'm most worried about the engine bouncing around without a lot of support.

Do you all have advice on moving this thing, securing it properly, so that we can get it to a new house?

thx

Gasser or CRD? And are you moving it by a trailer or dolley?

CRD.

Moving it with whatever makes sense. I'll have to hire someone.

Well with no rear drive shaft in place you could move it with a dolley easily if your going to hire someone a flat bed would be prefered. As far as the engine moving around and trying to keep it from doing so i would say your SOLO unless you wanted to wedge a piece of wood under the front and rear of it. Other wise i wouldn't worry with it just make sure to get fresh motor mounts on it once your ready to put the tranny back in.

If you have it on a flat bed consider that it's supported on the sides by the 2 motor mounts and what you want to prevent is fore and aft rocking. I would think some wood blocks or a couple of mechanical not hydraulic (hydraulics can leak down during the run) jacks could be placed to take care of that. Take it easy on the run and your motor mounts should be ok although proactive replacement might be a good idea if they are original.

Thanks guys. That sounds like a plan. I should be able to support it with something and plan on replacing the mounts sometime while getting the transmission done.
