I'm sure I'm not the first person with this problem. Awhile back my sunroof had a problem closing and a piece of plastic snapped. After that one of the corners would sag and I had to manually shut it. I removed the glass and could see the plastic piece that broke. I've been searching through the forum, but I can't seem to find where anyone has fixed this. Is this a simple DIY repair or should I bring it to the dealership? I've seen where I can by the kit online, but I'm just not sure how hard/long it would take to replace or if I'd need any specialty tools. Thanks ahead of time.

to remove the sunroof, you actually have to completely remove the side interior trim front to back, and completely remove the sunvisors and headliner.

removing the sunroof afterward is pretty straightforward.

Take pics and post them.

a new sunroof mechanism is going to run you a couple grand installed from a dealer. not cheap.

So I'm guessing this would be a weekend event? How hard is it to remove all the side trim? Will basic tools work or am I going to need any specialty tools?

basically all weekend. You'll need a few tor, a couple sockets and ratchet, a trim puller or flathead screwdriver.

I don't recall specific sizes though.
