| Post subject: | Adding Power Seats? |
I bought a set of power heated seats from an 05 KJ, to add to my 2006. Upon install I found I only have two wires going to the drivers side seatbelt (most seem to have four, two for the power seat, two for the seatbelt) so I need to run power from the junction box circuit breaker and just a ground to the seat frame, any ideas on where the wire from the circuit breaker goes or where to pick it up from? Or should i just run a 16G wire to a relay off the stereo remote wire, so they only would have power when the stereo is on. Also now the air bag light stays illuminated on the dash. The drivers side wiring (2 wires for the seatbelt) match, but the passenger side is different. They both have the 3 wires for OCM system which match, but the 06 has a blue and black wire going from the inner seat belt fastener to the harness, where the 05 does not. Hopefully someone has run into this and has some advice. (I have tried looking at both the 2005 and 2006 service manuals, but the wiring diagrams are so unclear it hasn't really helped at all) Thanks! |

Check over on the CRD part of the site. Several have done this and if memory serves you have to move the air bag sensor from your old seats to the new ones for the air bag stuff to work properly. As to heat I have no clue. |

The airbag sensor OCM (the under seat bladder started in 05 is the same in 2006) the only difference I could find between the seats is the seat belt sensor, which I do not see why this would cause any issues with the air bag.. Also even if someone is in the seat, the "passenger air bag light off" is on above the glove box. Is an airbag code stored? I tried putting the original seats back in and the light is still on.. |

Also the seat belt light and chime do not work when driving for either the drivers side or passenger side. Any ideas? |

I remember reading that the airbag sensors are coded and you need to swap them you just pull them out from under the cushion on the seat and put them into the new seat, don't know about airbags Jon |

Could be some re-programming needed. The PCM VIN has to match the ORC VIN (Occupant Restraint Controller) so it would seem to me that if one of the ORCs failed and you had to replace it...you would need to program the new ORC with the correct VIN and re-calibrate/program the PCM /ECM. So you may have to visit a Dealership |

Thanks for the input. I disconnected the battery for an hour to reset everything, and swapped the OCM from the original seat, and everything seems to be in working order! Now just need to wire in the power and heat, and find a factory drivers seat bottom cover.. |
