I am trying to replace my antifreeze and I can't get the radiator draincock open. It turns about a 1/4 of a turn and stops and nothing comes out.

What is the proper way to open the draincock and drain the radiator? I don't want to force it and break the draincock.

Thanks,

That post is a copy of what is in the service manual, which I have. The problem I am having is that the draincock doesn't seem to be opening. It turns about 1/4 of a turn and stops. How many turns does it take to open it up?

I would say more than a 1/4 turn. Put a wrench on it and be easy. You can tell if its going to turn anymore of just break off. If it does, then your up the creek. Take the lower rad hose off if you want. Idk how easy that is to do, I dont know how its set up on the libby.

Thanks,

It may be like a GM one, turns halfway and then pulls out.

Yes, I finally got it. Once it reaches the 1/4 turn it starts to pull out. I was just afraid to push it to far. I had broken one off on a previous car.

Thanks everyone for your help.
