Where can I find a flywheel?

I ordered all new parts for my clutch yesterday just to get an email back stating that the oem flywheel is discontinued from Chrysler. I then figured I would just get an aftermarket one right? Wrong. I cannot for the life of me find a flywheel for a 3.7 engine! Anybody know of a place I can get one? Thanks! :banghead:

Try and see if you can get it resurfaced at a shop.

Per Troy, resurfacing is a no-no since the flywheel has a curve to it. Resurfacing it causes problems.

If I'm reading the 2003 parts fiche (copy available of Sir Sam's NOOB guide on the KJ CRD section of the forum) the PN is 53021280AA and a Google search shows a bunch of suppliers with that PN in stock.

That's what I thought also. So far I have had 2 orders cancelled since most websites order directly from chrysler on these types of parts.

Both times they cancelled due to the part being discontinued.

I also will start looking since i'm doing my clutch next month, But I thought only the 2.4 manual tranny has the curve to it, also the price for a oem slave cylinder is about $180. compared to about $ 30 for an aftermarket one.

My son works at a dealership ( Infinity ) and will see what his price is for an oem flywheel.

The 2.4 uses a dual mass flywheel.

Well, I ended up finding one. There was only ONE in the country left which I ended getting. Good luck to anyone else who will need one. :banghead:

I hope I wont have a problem finding one, Troy is correct - the flywheel can't be resurfaced.

Are you changing the master cylinder and slave cylinder for the clutch? My service manual says the system should not be opened and replaced as a whole - but why do they sell slave cylinders alone from mopar ?

Yes, I am replacing the master and slave as a whole unit. I figured if I didn't it would start having problems soon after the clutch install.

Wow, So far no luck with my search either, There may be one in Germany - or I could have one made but Maybe I'll just scuff it up if it measures good.
