Whats your guys thoughts on an electrical short finder tool? Are they useful or just another pain in trying to find a short in your Jeep? If they are useful whats a good one to get that wouldn't be to crazy pricey? Or can a person just basically do the something with a multimeter?

Got an old Snap On tools one and it works Great! :!: If you have a dead short, just hook it up in place of the fuse and it will start doing a momentary current apply sorta like a flasher and you simply run the induction meter along the wiring harness until the meter either stops bouncing or points in the opposite direction. This locates the exact spot of where the current is going to ground. It has helped me many times over in finding a short. Not sure they make this one any more, it is a very good tool to have in your box... :D
You cannot perform this function with a multimeter! :(

Well I was trying to do a draw test, but I think my battery is shot, I have it all unhooked and I'm going to let it sit over night then see where the battery's at tomorrow morning. If it is bad, I'm gonna get a fresh new battery and then go from there with my testing.

As far as the tool, they looked like they made the job easy, which I would love! There seemed like there was different brands/ types out there and didn't know if anybody recommended one for the home mechanic. Anything I can get to help me with this is always good!
