I'm sure this has been covered, but will ask anyway in hope that someone has the quick down and dirty on it ... 1) If I go with the All J Products Super Skid, what other skids will I need for a 2003 Sport? 2) If I don't use All J at all, what do I need to get from Mopar for a 2003 Sport? TIA |

1. Im not sure but I think it only covers the tranny. You would still need the front skid, tcase, and gas tank. Again, Im not sure. |

Yes, you are correct. The Mopar skids are decent enough and hold up well to rocks and such. But if you are wheeling in good size rocks, go with the All J trans skid as it will Really hold up to the abuse of larger rocks. |

Not to diss on All J, but the tranny skid from MOPAR is like $20. Dirt cheap. And it does a great job at what it's supposed to do. |

I have a 2003. There are four different skids. Front Skid - Mopar Transmission Skid - aftermarket (AllJs, Skidrow) Transfer case Skid - Mopar Gas Tank - Mopar. after market You need all four to be safe. |

The good thing about the ALL-J skid is it covers the exhaust also. The mopar tranny skid leaves alot open to get hit. The tcase skid is ok but I wouldnt land it on a rock. All the other skids seem to do a good job. The front is really strong, its really the only one I use with my lift. |

I use all four of mine and the Boulder Bars. Yeah, the tranny skid from Mopar is cheap, but if you wheel near rocks the one from All J can take more and you won't have to rebend it after runs. Here's a Mopar skid on the left and the Super Skid on the right. Much more protection from All J.
The same goes for the gas skid. Mopar will serve it's purpose for a while but will bend. The one from Kilby is super sturdy. |

Thanks for the replies. You guys are great! I am however in a quandary right now about the Transfer Case Skid and don't know what to do yet. jparts [savage] doesn't show a transfer case skid for the 2003. I emailed Ken at jparts and provided him with the parts manual number 82206123. He advised that was no longer available from Chrysler. I checked worldpartsexpress.com and found a superseded number 82208421. I emailed Ken back with that number and he replied: "That is the newest part number that Chrysler was using.. It is no longer available." So ... now what do I do about the Transfer Case Skid for a 2003 Liberty. And ... if we can't get skids or front hitches anymore, what the heck is going on? |

You still can get front hitches. They are under the Reese part # 13542. Reese, Drawtite and Hidden Hitch are all owned by the same company now and they consolidated down to one part #. Most web sites have not been updated since this change took place. You can order the Reese thru hitchfinder.com. |

You can order the Reese thru hitchfinder.com. Interesting you should mention this, I ordered a Drawtite from etrailer.com and they advised that it was not available and there was no substitute. Then ... low and behold I ordered the Reese #13542 from etrailer and have received it. It is awaiting installation. Back to the transfer case skid. UPDATE - I ordered #82206123 for my 2003 from worldpartsexpress.com a few minutes ago and they confirmed what Ken at jparts said. Worldpartsexpress just sent the following: "Part# 82206123 has been replaced with 82208421 and has been discontinued". So ... any suggestions about a transfer case skid for 2003 Liberty would be greatly appreciated. TIA |

My 2004 needed to have one hole drilled, I didnt worry about it though. |

Jeepjeepster, did you have to drill the skid or frame? Not that it would matter much, just looking for some insight. By the way, I ordered a transfer case skid #82206123 [original part number] from moparsupercenter.com and am waiting to see if it ships or not. Keeping my fingers crossed that one is sitting on a shelf somewhere. |

Keeping my fingers crossed that one is sitting on a shelf somewhere. One of my holes does NOT line up, but I didnt bother with drilling it. I really didnt feel like it and I dont do many rocks so I figured it would be ok. Idk if you could drill a hole in the skid to line it up with a hole already in the cross-member or not, I would of just drilled into the cross member. |
