Has anyone had trouble with their cruise control? I just bought a used 02 limited 4x4 and the cruise doesn't work on it. The light comes on but it won't set. just wanted to know if anyone has any clue as to what might be wrong. |

This is the wrong section (Newbie INFO Area), this would be better asked in the General Discussion Section. But to answer your question, if you just bought it, than didn't the dealership give you at least a 30/90 day warrenty? I would take it to them and have them fix it. |

If you have the manual for it, take a flip through and see that you're using it right. I remember it being more complicated than I expected it to be. For my 2005, I have to first turn on the cruise control, then I need to hit the accel button, then I hit set (or set then accel, I think either will work). Just hitting "cruise" by itself makes the light on the dash go on but doesn't set a speed. Make sense? |

i bought it from a private owner for a really good price so i didn't mind the fact that the cruise control doesn't work. and i read the manual and tried to set it... still doesn't work. |

Not to be wise, but the cruise control won't work below 35MPH. I don't know what speed you are trying to set it at. |

lol, i've tried at anywhere from 40-80mph... i've read owners manual, and i'm bumfuzzled... i guess that i'm going to have to break down and take it to a shop one day when i've got some extra money lol. With these gas prices the way that they are i probably need to get it fixed pretty soon though. |

did you happen to check the fuse for it or the wiring behind the steering column? |

On my 02 you just turn it on and than hit set above 40 to reset after you use the break at 40 you hit resume Do you have any problem with the speedometer it is connected to the sending unit at the rear Axel, if you speedometer is not working it will not let the cruse work. It is also connected with the door locks Just a though |

I took mine in for an oil change and while they were in there the dealer added a few updates to the idle control. For some reson the forgot to reset the cruise control. After driving it to Vegas and back I took it to the dealer and they fixed the code in less than five minutes. So it could be a simple fix that only the dealer can do. |
