How hard is it to replace a brake line? I was driving home today, and put the fat pedal to the floor and it barely slowed me down. After I got home and cleaned out my pants, I checked to see why I had no stopping power. My drivers side front has a puddle of brake fluid emanating from the last rubber connector on the brake line before it gets to the actual brake. I'm guessing I'll need to replace the last 6" of metal line, the rubber connector, and obviously the fluid. Do I need any special tools? Can parts be bought anywhere, or only at the dealer? I've never done brakes before, but I'm handy and have standard tools. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Glad I had the stick shift to slow me down!

NAPA has the brakeline
I assume its the one from the caliper up to the body? regular tools will work
If so not hard to replace , make sure to get brake fluid as well and bleed the brakes after installing new line

Ya, it's leaking from the junction where the metal line extending out of the caliper meets up with the flexible line. There is a thicker "rubber boot" where the two meet that is apparently the problem. So no specialty tools required?

Hope your brake line repair went OK; I just had to do the same exact thing. Mine wasn't due to a leak; it was more of a gushing total loss of fluid from a broken line. It was due to my own stupidity and stubbornness. I had the caliper, and rotor off to redo my previously screwed job of remolding the fender well liner after pounding the pinch weld... instead of tying the caliper up, like I knew I should, I precariously balanced it on the hub...I turned quickly and hit the caliper with my elbow, it dropped and broke the line right where yours was leaking.

I recommend doing the other side too. When I did my lift in December, my left side line was leaking in the same spot as yours, corrosion inside the protective fatter rubber cover. So I inspected the right side, it was crunchy, and with little abuse, broke. Do 'em both and you will have fresh fluid at two corners and peace of mind.
