So I believe the fuel pump just started going out at 229k. Wondering if I have to drop the tank (which would mean the hitch and skid as well, grrr) or can I get at this one from above?? Anybody get at this pump from above?? It looks from pictures of the tank that the pump flange is rather large, which worries me. I am all about not dropping fuel tanks to change pumps!! Thanx for info.

The early KJs you could access the fuel tank from inside the cargo area by lifting the rear carpet...drill out some pop-rivets first.

I don't know at what stage they stopped having this function built in!
