Now that Im on the east coast mtb sessions mean bikes lathered in thick mud. Need a carrier instead of throwing the bike inside. Im deciding on a 2 or 3 Rola hitch mount. Rola 59403, or 59400 I know some people on here have the Rola roof racks and like them, so figured its a decent product without shelling out double for a thule. Anyone use one of these before? I am worried about clearance with the spare tire mounted on the tailgate
thanks

You can get a 6 or 8 inch hitch extender for your bike rack to clear the spare tire. U-Haul sells them for $10 or so. I also wanted to suggest Craigslist as an alternative to buying a new bike rack. I found my hitch mounted bike rack (a good quality steel one with a lock and capacity for 3 bikes) for $40 on Craigslist, while comparable new ones were close to $250.

Thanks! Will look into both of those. I used to be able to find alot of things on CL out in LA because everyone used it out there. Here in Pittsburgh it doesnt seem as popular but definitely worth checking out before i order new

My buddy Jeff (LI_KJ on LOST) is a pretty extreme biker and uses a THULE, I believe.

I have a 4 bike Hollywood carrier. It is a good distance from the tire, and angles up so ground clearance is no issue. I don't know what they cost new, mine was $50 on Craigslist. It will tilt away from the vehicle by removing a pin.
