[POUTING FACE] [POUTING FACE] [POUTING FACE] [POUTING FACE] [POUTING FACE]
I knocked off my rear abs sensor and it killed my speedo and abs. I am curious to how the abs sensors effects the speedo or if only certain sensors do. I replaced the rear sensor and it didn't fix anything. I had a code for a transmission sensor but not the rear sensor. (unless the auto zone guy is an idiot) It has been causing some minor stalling of my engine. Is there more than one sensor that affects the speedo? I am in the middle of a diff swap and have the time to fix it.

Never heard of minor stalling. Stalling is stalling and is never good. The ABS needs speed sensors to know how fast the wheels are going, so it can detect a wheel lock up. The speedo needs a speed sensor to know vehicle speed. Years ago they used to run two speed sensors for the rear drivetrain, now they typically use just one(rear axle) and the PCM and ABS module are networked together so they can share the info. Trans sensor causing stalling? Let me guess, transmission input speed sensor? As for autozone:

What year KJ?

05 and, I assume prior, have a single rear wheel speed sensor that if I recall correctly is on top of the differential so how you would knock it off I have no clue. However, if that's the case it's been reported that the wiring to that sensor is thin and rather fragile hence prone to breaking inside the insulation so if you did knock off the sensor it's possible/probably you damaged the wiring too the sensor.

06 and, I assume later, with ESP has 2 rear wheel speed sensors. Again if you knocked one of those off I'd suspect related wiring problems.

Would need more details on the stalling. I suppose it's possible that with bad "data" the ABS is locking up 1 or more wheels, possibly at low speed like coming to a stop, and stalling the engine but that's just speculation.

I think I can get the speedo working with this info we will see. As for the stalling it only happens when I am off the gas and the rpm's drop coming to a stop. It's as if the idle is dropping to low this has also caused my idiot oil light to blink but instantly go away once on the gas. Make a man real nervous even with the love I have for my kj.

The stalling does only happen coming to a stop

If it's an automatic transmission you might want to check fluid level as low fluid can result in weird idle/stall issues when coming to a stop.

The speedo working has a direct effect on stalling. The PCM needs to know how fast,if accelerating, and the rate of decelerating to adjust fuel and IAC settings. No speedo and moderate braking can stall any OBDII controlled engine.
