so I am underneath the panel looking for a brake controller wire "under the white panel" and I notice this white box/controller on the brake pedal, so I decide to take it off to see wtf this thing is... Well long and behold it said not to re-install the part... I'm thinking oh crap...

And yes, you guessed it, i tried to put it back in, and now, my jeep wont shift out of park and my brake lights do not work..
from my understanding this is a brake light switch and if it goes bad the brake lights wont work.

i need to know what I need to do to fix this? Buy a new switch? How do I install it? Wire plugged in first then twist it in place or, install it in place and then connect the wire... Do I need to disconnect the battery???

Replace the brake light switch and read the instructions that come with the switch before you touch it.There is a one time adjustment,if you play with the switch or hit that adjustment switch before install you will need to buy another and start all over.

spoke too soon.. Started to go to work this morning and noticed I have no brake lights... I should have not trusted my Wife when she said the brake lights are working yesterday... Anyone got a picture of what that switch should look like installed?

Put another brake light switch in this evening, and it finally is working.. Phew.

Now to move to my original quest.
I need to install a trailer brake controller, and reading some posts online it is telling me to look for a blue wire underneath a white cover. Anyone have any idea or a picture of this? I looked around and could not find this wire with a tag.
