| Post subject: | HELP!!! Stupid airbag light |
here is my story....on saturday i got my sub and amp put in and let me tell you that sub is half way up and it feels like it would shatter my back glass. On the way home from the place, I realize that the airbag light is on. I pulled over, turned the engine off and started it again.....2 seconds later the light went on again. I turned the engine on and off numerous times yesterday hoping it might go away but no luck.....Is it possible that the base from the woofer set off the airbag sensor? Also i know that they ran the wires along the driver side, right by the doors. Is it possible that there is a sensor somewhere around there that they fudged up? I realy feel uneasy driving the car like that and i have a feeling that taking it back to the place wont help a lot..... KJ buddies please let me know what you would do......and how much you think the dealer would charge as i am out of warranty if you think i should take it there..... |

| Post subject: | RE : AIR BAG LIGHT |
HI, i hope this helps,is the air bag light on-on the passenger side of the dash? by the handle of the glove box?if so did you have something in the seat? my does that because thats normal, if you put more then 10 pounds in the seat it thinks its a small child in the seat and will automacticlly shut the air bag off until the seat is empty!! i know this because i took mine in for the same reason!!! |

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes to try to reset the computer. |

if valvestem's idea doesn't work then I would suggest taking it back to the place you had the sub installed and make sure they didn't strip some wiring or cause a short somewhere. |

maybe someone else can help the air bag is shut off if there is nothing in the seat (no light) or less than 100 lbs in the seat (light on). |

| Post subject: | Air bag Light |
I just had a similar problem (See "green wire" post). My airbag light went on also because of a blown fuse. My situation is a little different. i tapped into a hot line under the dash and when it overloaded it blew a 10 amp fuse. Neither Chiltern's or the owner's manuel describes the air bag in a fused circuit but it is infact fused into a circuit that a number of other ignition hot things are fused into. I will check out my rig and tell you exactly the fuse number I had a problem with but check you fuse panel on the inside door jam. Make sure you don't have a blown fuse. Mike's idea is also a good one. take it back to the guys who did the install. |

I appreciate it.....actually i took it back and they took it to their mechanic and got it fixed yesterday but it would be nice to know which fuse it is in the future if it happens again. |
