Wondering if I can carrier a 300 lb. scooter on one of these carreriers or something similar? http://www.discountramps.com/motorcycle_carrier.htm
I think the tongue weight is rated at 300lbs for the OEM receiver. However the motor in a scooter is more towards the rear wheel vs. a dirt bike. Will this want to "twist" the receiver too much if that makes any sense? Also I think the spare tire will be in the way... depending upon how far the carrier sticks out. I don't really want to deal with a trailer.

You can purchase hitch extensions for any KJ tow hitch. I understand what you mean by the twist, the torque of the uneven weight on one side...but i see them all the time here on the back of Crown Vic's and others so I don't think it is a major issue.

The OEM hitch can handle 750lbs. It would be fine for a little scooter. I had a pressure washer, weed eater, around 2 gal of gas and a chain saw on a hitch carrier and it did fine. I drive like a mad man too.

Id say that was around 250-300 lbs. That carrier weighs around 50-75lbs by itself.

I think you should be ok to carry a scooter like that. Max tongue weight on the liberty is 750lbs for the auto and 500lbs for the manual (not sure why it's different for different transmissions, but who knows).

In either case, you can get a hitch extension or remove the spare to make it work. I say removing the spare is a good choice, since you'll be able to get the weight in the back closer to the jeep, which is always better.
