Post subject:  '06 KJ tow hooks installation

Hi all,

I just got a set of front tow hooks (OEM/Mopar) for my '06 KJ, and I'm having a hard time inserting the U-bolts. I can't find any way to squeeze in anywhere big enough. Do I have to remove the bumper (maybe just the fascia)? The installation procedure included with the hooks shows a 2002-2004 KJ, which looks different than mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

Remove the bumper cover, it will give you more space to work.
At least this is what I did in mine as I have chunky hands.
To do so start by removing the grill, then the screws inside the turn signals and then pry off the plastic clips in the fender-well .

Well, aren't I a bit embarrassed! Turns out that it's dead easy. Just feed the U-bolt through the hole into the frame and back out the other hole. No need to remove anything, although if you feed the U-bolt too high up it will topple into the frame and then you will definitely have to remove the bumper.

Yep, that's all there is to it. And I let a u bolt fall over so I had to take the bumper off.
