Which transfer case is the best in a KJ? I've searched and not found the topic(or missed it) :dizzy: . My vehicle is not a DD,only a toy. Would it be advantagous to convert to the better case? I have the 231 case.

Of the two stock transfer cases the 231 is considered to be the strongest and most reliable. The 242 has the Full Time/AWD option but it gives up durability for convenience.

I 2nd Ted's suggestion of an Atlas as a nice upgrade

Well, upgrading to an Atlas 2 would include changing to different driveshafts and add to the cost? Upgrading to a terra flex 4:1 kit for the 231J would only include the cost of the kit. Long term which would be better? :juggle:
