Hey folks - I'm getting a shop to do my oil pan that rusted out...it's leaking about a half quart per week, not too bad, but getting worse and I'd hate to get stranded somewhere. Of course until I figured out what needs to be done to replace it, I thought I could do it in my garage in under an hour. HAHA. SO, while it's there, any suggestions on what else to inspect or replace? TIA |

Say what year is your Jeep? Is it a KJ? The oil pan on my 04 KJ rusted out last year. After looking at the job and what it involved I decided to take it to my local garage. It took them all day to do the job. They had to raise the engine and drop the axle. Imagine I bought a new oil pan and gasket from Mopar and let me tell you the new oil pan was pretty thin. I sure hope I don't have to replace it again. I don't think you can do very much or look for much with the oil pan off. Maybe look for metal filings in the old pan. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

on my KK the shop took like 6 hours to do it. Didn't need to raise engine, just disconnect the 4x4 and half the front suspension. |

Hey guys, Sorry, 03 KJ, thought I had a sig, but it's not there...I'll update it. It was there overnight, the guy didn't start on it til later in the day. What a PITA. At least it's not in the air in my garage with me going It's done now, he's just bolting it back up. I asked him to throw on some new front sway bar bushings. Not too many other things to replace down there. I don't think I'll have this issue again before it's sold even if way in the future since I have a skid to protect it from salt etc. I think I will pay special attention to cleaning the underside after this. cheers |
