I pre-paid for their new Convertible roof rack back in July. In the beginning of August, after not getting any confirmation emails or acknowledgements from them I shot them an email just to check in and they said Mid-September at the latest. Ok that's fine, I am in no rush. Mid-September I still have not heard anything so I shoot them another email and hear nothing back. Mid-October I send another email, again nothing. I just gave them a ring since its now the end of November and got no answer and the voicemail box is full.

Does anyone know what the deal is? I am not really mad, I would just like to know what is going on since I did give them a lot of money. I hope nothing bad happened to anyone there.

I just talked to Martin today. Seems he's on top of things except for your issue. It seems he's fairly busy. Try emailing him. His email is on his website...

Got in touch by email. He's been emailing me about the rails and front bumper.

I just saw that. So its basically just the roof rack and the sliders that he produces now?

Its definitely not clear from the website, but he told me today that he is only curtailing new orders until he's caught up over the Christmas rush.
Anything in the pipeline right now will be built according to schedule is what he wrote.

I pre-ordered as well, I have emailed him almost ten times with NO reply, I have even offered to pick up my items in person to save him time for packaging. This was a large order (3 items). What gives? last time I used him I had my rack in under a week. Now I'm stuck with 2x4's on my roof dragging my stuff around. Could someone please PM me his contact information as I am unable to get a hold of him.
thanks in advance

Sounds to me like the same old song and dance.

He does good work, great quality..... but....

... let's just say there are many Jeep owners out there who have waited a very long time for products...

... I like his stuff, but have seen this situation far to many times to put my money on the line...

In reviewing the past postings over the years about Rock Lizard, there are generally two camps. Those that receive their goods quickly due to some relationship with him and normal customers that have waited months if not years. At least that is what the older postings seem to indicate. Of course you also then have the defenders and the detractors. Usual internet stuff.

That said, I've had my side rails on order since November, supposedly due/done before Christmas but no such luck. I also put a deposit on a front bumper and have now received the second invoice from Rock Lizard.

I've had one communication after I initiated where he stated trouble, in terms of deaths in family and travel. After that, no more communications other than the new invoice today. Rails promised in January, no such luck even though they were supposed to be done before Christmas. This could devolve into a situation that will take months based on past experiences I've read about.

From what I've gathered, he's more of an artist than a business man. Ideally, he would collect money on an order only after it was completed. But like most small businesses, he finances the parts and labor for one order with other orders. Plus various delays of one sort or another, he's a student and parent from what I understand and he falls behind leaving paid customers waiting for months if not years from what I've read.

Unfortunately, this does not make for a good business plan causing a great many bad feelings and lost business. I'm facing a situation of a charge back now since I haven't heard from him or received my parts. Its a real shame as he doesn't seem to be intentionally causing delays but its not a proper way to run a business.
