I took the grab-handle/cover off of the drivers side windshield pillar to help figure out a water leak a few days ago, and found the cord.

It's attached with a flat metal hook about half way up the pillar, and runs up the underside of the pillar into the overhead area.

What is it, and how delicate is it?

Thanks for any answers and insight.

Thanks for that.

I never thought they had ripcords.
I thought they used electric-type strain gauges.

My 2002 Export 2.5 CRD has a flat cable in that position for the curtain airbags....strange to have a pull cord for airbags?
