| Post subject: | HAS ANYONE ELSE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BELT TENSIONER? |
Just wondering if any body else is having problems with there belt tensioners going out with low miles, mine has went bad twice in 36,000 miles. At 25,000 miles my belt tensioner went south and had it replaced under warranty(new belt to)and now at 36,000 miles it's going out again.Took it back to the stealership and they won't replace for free because my KJ is out of warranty(had it for 4 years now)and they replaced it 18 months ago so the dealership warranty of 12,000 miles or 1 year is up to.Showed them paper work that my KJ was stored for 1 year with pics of belt removed(so as to not ruin the belt or tensioner)and orders showing that I was deployed to afganistan for 1 year and that year should not count. They pretty much pushed me out the door, guess I'll have to try other dealers but will most likely run into the same thing. |

Man you should have been in Moab to win the one we had in the raffle. I have never heard of anyone having a problem with their tensioner until now that is. |

I had mine go bad somewhere around 27-28K, I don't remember the mileage exactly though. It wasn't too long ago. Dealer replaced the belt and tensioner under warranty. Good luck getting it fixed man. I guess if they won't cover it you could always do the work yourself and save a few bucks |

Not worried about doing the work my self(it's only one bolt, about a 5 min job at most) it's the fact that the stealership is being stupid and this is turning into a common problem with my KJ like the LBJ's(on my 3rd set, last set are MOOG's). |

My tensioner is fine, but I have had to replace the pulleys on it twice now.... That was the "supercharger" at moab. Both pulleys went bad on me. A dealer in Montana replaced the pulleys for me the first time, even though they ordered the entire tensioner, so I have a tensioner with no pulleys in the garage for a spare, but now the pulleys went bad again. I just need to keep mine out of the water is all... but Kane Creek was so fun! |

The first time my tenioner went the pully bearing siezed(dealership replaced entire unit with belt,I marked them before I took it in). This time the tensioner spring broke and I could take the belt off by hand,no tension what-so-ever.I allready replaced it myself and contacted dealer back home(still have friends that work there)to at least have the money I spent on the tensioner refunded and explained what was going on.They said come in when you get back home and they will work with me if I can show proof that I was deployed(easy,I have the orders and plenty of pics from there). |
