Is there a way to drive with the rear window open but not have the interior lights on? Is there some kind of clip that can go into the rear latch to trick it into thinking its closed? -c |

you want to be careful when driving with your window gate open. Over time from the bouncing, your window shocks will get weak and that one bump you hit just may slam down your window and smash it. It has happend to me. about the lights on, I really do not know. I never bothered with it unless I was driving at night. |

I would fab solid rods (just get old blown ones and tack them to always stay open) if that becomes a concern. Sometimes I want to drive at night with the hatch popped. Aside from the weather benefits, bringing home big items that stick out the back are another reason I'd like to do this. -c |

I have an easy way to do that. I have done it to my KJ. I went to hommie D and bought 2 1/2" hose clamps and clamped it around the bottom of the shock to ack as a stop lock. I am not too sure what to do about the lights still |

You can push the catch in until it clicks and that will turn the interior lights off as well as the annoying bell. It is not necessary to put anything in it to hold it in place, it holds itself in place. You just want to make sure you push it in until it clicks. Then when you want to close it, you have to unlock it with the remote then you can close the glass. I do this all the time when I have my surfboard hanging out the back. By the way this is how it works on an 06. Should be the same for all models. |

I think you are correct about the all model. I just gave my 03 a shot and it worked just like you said... |

Sweet... Unfortunately I figured this out after I lost a bolt in my rear door, which rattles when I hit bumps. But fortunately the wind whistle from my front drivers side window covers that up. haha. Hope this works for you as well CCATTIE. |

the libby is pretty good about funneling the emissions into the vehicle when you drive at slower speeds with the rear window open. it isnt bad enough to knock you out from carbon monoxide poisoning, just something to keep in mind |

oh yea, and that is also something to concider with the back glass open. Make sure you have another window open to let in the clean ( so clean ) air in while driving. We don't need another posting of " wrecked the KJ tonight "..... |

Good point. Mine is a CRD so there is no mistaking the exhaust from that bad boy. -c kevh wrote: the libby is pretty good about funneling the emissions into the vehicle when you drive at slower speeds with the rear window open. it isnt bad enough to knock you out from carbon monoxide poisoning, just something to keep in mind

I recently discovered that the cargo light has a push button feature similar to the map lights up front. If you push the light once it stops the light from coming on when the window is open. Hope this helps. |

-c My 2003 you can push in on the rear light (the light itself is one big pushswitch) and that turns it and the front interior light off. |

I never allow my inside lights to come one. Can you all not do this? The dimmer feature for the dash lights, turn it all the way down and they will not come on when any of the doors are open. The light in the trunk only works for when the back hatch is open, but the dimmer turns them off for all doors. be sure to release the latch before you try to close the glass, may break it if you slam it hard enough. |

i use the dimmer switch all the way down you will feel it clicklike two times and the lights dont come on , or the light in the back you can push it and turn it offlike someone else said it seems to be another option |
