OK. I was going to sell my 05 Renny but was talked out of it by many. Now at 33K mi. the check engine light has come on 3 times in the last 3 weeks. Of course right near the end of my basic 3yr/36K mi warranty. When the light came on the 1st time I took it to a local dealership who said when they hooked it up to the computer that it was misfiring in cylinder #1. I drive out of the dealership and 20 miles later the dumb thing comes back on. I take it to supposedly the best Jeep dealership in the area (Triad NC) and they too said that it was coming up on the computer as a misfire in cylinder #1. They swapped plugs & the misfire moved so they said it was a bad plug. They replaced the plug. I go to Myrtle Beach on vacation and guess what.. you got it. I took it in immediately and this time they say that the fuel injector in cylinder #1 needed to be replaced. (No wonder my gas mileage has been terrible.) My question is has anyone else had problems w/ their check engine light? Will the warranty still cover the check engine light when my 3yr/36K mi warranty runs out since it has to do w/ the drive train? This is my 1st Jeep/DC vehicle and am very disappointed now that I've had the same problem 3x's in 3 weeks. |

Ok my check engine light came on at about the same time yours did but it wasnt a plug, i never had it plugged in to check have you checked the codes yet? you can do this by turning the key on and off like three times i think, and it will display the code on the odometer, mine ended up being a rubber hose on my driver side, there are two lines that run up the fire wall and then come forward toward the radiator and meet one of the many vac. things, anyhow one of the lines rubber connection lines had cracked. you might check these. Sorry this is so technical but it is like 1:30 a.m.... |

Don't worry about the warrenty part. It sounds like you brought it to DC's attention while still under warrenty. If this is true, I would take the position that the problem was never solved and they owe you resolution. Dont be shy about it, let them know that they and DC will get an e-mail daily defining every time the check engine went on that day. They fix it! |

I've got about 13,600 miles on my libertyCRD and the check engine light has popped up. It came on once before but turned off after 1 tank of gas. Now its on and not going away. I'm taking it in. Anything I should pay attention to or know when I talk to the dealer? |

My check engine light just came on. I had it into the dealership to fix my low beam headlight and at the same time had them change out my spark plugs. I'm guessing they didn't put something back together correctly. Looks like I'll be taking it back to them. |

Check the CRD forum, the issues with CRD's CEL occurances are quite different than the gassers. Mostly EGR valves, glow plug, and torque converter issues. |
