I just bought an 02 liberty and every now and then the rpm and mph will stick and stay where they are at for like a min or so, Then return back to normal. Any idea what could be wrong? |

I don't know, but I'll see what I can come up with. |

Either the speed sensor isn't updating so it's sending the same old data or the needle is jamming. Or maybe even the computer isn't sending the updated speed sensor data. |

Could it be that same problem with the wire that runs from the speed sensor to the equipment? I can't remember the specific issue, but something was severing the wire. |

Look at the condition of the speed sensor and make sure that there isn't anything damaged. Is your odometer work when the speedo stops? The speed sensor is used for that as well i believe. If nothing appears damaged then I would look at the condition of the needle/dash panel insert |

Well when it happens all the guages freeze even the gas guage and the rpm and all the check engine lights and other lights flash on and off. It is really bothering me. Last night i was doing 50mph at 1500rpm for about 10mins strait even when i was stop supposidly. lol |

It's definately not a sensor problem if it affects that many guages. Probably either the computer or the PCI bus connection between the guage cluster and the computer. |

That was actually the next thing I was going to suggest. An autozone would be able to pull the codes *if any*. I don't think they charge anything. I also believe there is a way to pull the code yourself, but I'm not sure how to do it and couldn't find it on a search. |

I think to pull codes yourself you have to cycle the key 3 or 4 times and the check engine light will flash. Oh and by the way desert I lived in phoenix until last month. bet your lovin the weather now huh? |

Ya the weather is warming up and working out side does not help. My brother in law is a mechanic and has a scanner so i think i will just take it over to his house. I just wanted to see if this was a common problem. Thanks for all your help guys. |
