Further to the query by another member here re: which winch to get... any suggestions for easy mounting if you do not have the ARB bull bars?

What about a trailer hitch attachment?

Any feedback please...

Several have used a front hitch and a portable winch mount. Then the winch can be used front or rear. You will have to wire in the connections to both ends of the vehicle though.

That's what I have decided to do. After posting the question here and then asking some friends to contact ARB in Aus I have decided that the ARB and a winch are too much for my 06 CRD. I am putting on the Franken Lift and am now looking for a bull bar that can be welded on to the front reciever somehow to allow me to push stuff around a bit.

Not packing a winch around on the washboard roads everyday will save my suspension, I hope.

I decided to go the sure way and installed the winch (Warn m8000) under the front bumper, an image:

Still waiting to see how you tied that into the frame? Got pics of the install and mounting?

That looks awesome. I too would like to see how that is mounted.

Also, is a 12,500 or larger winch a waste of money?
