I know I know...Big Bear 2006 hasn't even started yet and someone is already bringing up MOAB 2007...BUT..there are some of us that are members of L.O.S.T. and KJ Expeditionary that are interested in making a trek out to Moab at some point during the summer of 2007. We are trying to coordinate a mutual date where both groups could be out there together having a great time wheeling, camping, and sharing shenanigans with. I am curious to know if one of the admins could go ahead and possibly start a new Topic under the National L.O.S.T. Runs Section where discussions could begin about possible dates and events and scheduling for the 2007 MOAB Experience. That is if L.O.S.T. is planning on doing a run to MOAB in 2007...hehe, i'd like to think we are though.

Of course we will be doing a LOST Moab 2007. The thing is, will it be during the same week it has been (late April) or during Easter Jeep Safari.

You mention summer 07. It is far too hot in the summer. Spring is the time to go.

Well i reckon with school going on in the Spring my only time to possibly get out there would be over my Spring Break which just happens to start on Sat March 3 and then ends on Sunday March 11....i would have to think it might be too cold or even snowy there then. i know when I went to Zion this past Spring Break it snowed and the Park Service closed all trails....hmmmm

Or maybe after i get out of school, there is a small break before all my friends decided to plan their weddings that I might be able to go...Wed May 9 - Sat May 19 is open for me....

I have backpacked in Moab on the First of April and got 3 inches of snow on my tent and down to 25 at night, but it was a balmy 75-80 in the day :)
If you go in the summer, you can chek the board at Arches where they track days w/o rain and days over 100 (can't remember exactly where it was, but remember seeing it one July :( ). Spring or Fall is the time to go to Moab though.

If I had to guess, Moab 07 will most likely be April 13-22.
Easter is on the 8th and EJS runs the weekend prior to Easter through Easter. We usually shoot for the weekend after EJS through the following Weekend. (4/13-22)

We are slowly starting a Jeep version (sort of) of the Land Rover Overland Challenge. Except instead of challenges we are just making overland tours of Canada and the US and then eventually down into Mexico and wherever else we are lead to drive...go ahead and take look at the above link...

Just want to add to that....KJ Expeditionary is an Expedition group out of Toronto ONT. Brand new group.

We're starting off small this year to train all the team members up....next year we're going to push Moab on the 2007 "Toronto to Moab Tour" event we have planned....and of course this will lead up to our major overland expedition in 2008 the "Halifax to Denali Challenge". This will be a major role for the Jeep Liberty, and I think probably a first of its kind....from what I have noticed is nobody has overlanded a KJ before....lots of Land Rovers, Toyotas, and Nissans, but not the KJ.

We've named the Halifax to Denali overland as a Challenge because we'll be setting goals, and also pledging to raise a certain amount for LiveStrong for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

But also a challenge because we're facing about 20,000 km round trip and as I mentioned possibly a first for the KJ....we'll be seeking sponsorship soon for this event, and also our Moab event.

RockyMteditionKJ is our newest team member...the major overland will be 3-4 vehicles only...he is our 3rd

A promotional video for our 2008 overland will posted here and at a few other sites soon.
