Check engine light flashing?

I notice now when I turn my car to the on position the dash lights up like a Christmas tree as usual but when lights go off the check engine light flashes a few times then goes steady as usual. I start the car and light goes away? I just replace alternator and plugs could this have anything to do with it?

Flashing CEL when the key is turned to on with the engine off means that the computer has not run all of the OBDII monitors and is not ready for emissions testing. I'm assuming you disconnected your battery when you replaced the alternator, which would have cleared the monitors, so its not unexpected. It should stay solid after all the monitors run, so check again in a few days after driving it.
