Tom, the fun times just kept on going today
Both locomotives went down...
We had a broken rail on our inbound/outbound track, I took the track out of service, the customer was not happy.
The plant almost shut down because of this. The problem was that the break in the rail was in some comp joint bars(these join two different size rails together)comp bars are very old technology.
We started scrambling to find some, the earliest we could get any was Tuesday.....Soooo... I took Rokee on a safari in the yard and found a section of dead track that had the joint bars we needed. Needless to say the plant did not shut down, I saved the customer boocoo money!, and she was very pleased.
After that tradgedy was fixed, I focused all my attention on getting our "new" pos in service, I replaced the part that was over nighted, and alas, the engine still would not work, it would not idle any higher than notch 3, if you put it into notch 4, the loco died.
After troubleshooting with a mechanic in NJ for over two hours by phone, it ended up being the cable that goes from the governor to the throttle control, the contacts were dirty for god's sake! A little lectra parts cleaner and all was good! What a day!
I did however receive my stocking from by buddies in Oklahoma, it weighs over 30lbs, and includes 2 Pepperidge Farms sausage and cheese samplers, Pepp. Farm cookies, animal crackers for Shadow, Reeces Peanut Butter Trees, Cracker Jack, Nutter butters, Oreo's, Chips Ahoy, 2 boxes of Pringles Stix, a box of Star Crunch, a candy pooping dog on a sled, a jar of pub mix and $100.00 cash! the day was not a total loss!
Thank goodness it is Friday tomorrow and payday, But I have to host a conference call for the Ohio region tomorrow at 11am. After which, I will be departing work promptly at 1pm for a mod appointment at the XJ skunkwerks shop in Kettering OH
