These guys have been our mechanics for years - Axtmann Automotive. They don't have a spiffy web page but are very receptive to modified vehicles - the owner builds race cars and used to do funny car racing 8)

Fields Jeep in Northfield. I spoke to their GM this morning while I was there waiting for the KJ to get taken care of. He and I spoke about the "Touch the Truck" fundraiser (proceeds go to the Kohl's Children's Museum) that's coming up in May. He also seemed very receptive to LOST and the idea of a "Jeep community" and the possibility of having LOST show up for events there.

I've got his contact info, and told him I'd email him some stuff. Here's a list of what I was going to send, please add to it if you've got additional ideas

1. LOST Jeeps flyer
2. link to LOST forum
3. link to recent JP Freek article
4. list of charity/goodwill events LOST (and especially Midwest LOST) is involved in
5. list of events/trips/meet & greets that LOST (especially IL LOST) participates in

anything else to send?

I'd make sure to give them a hard copy as well as an email.

Is northfield jeep the one on 94?

Were you going to send this all electronically? If not, I printed out a copy of the JPFreek Liberty article... and if you wanted to include that, I could get another color copy made... unless you have resources to do that already.

I thought it'd be a good idea to put together a packet for him and hand deliver it. If you have a color copy of the article, I'd love to get a copy for this project! I don't have access to a (working) color printer right now ... for some reason mine stopped working :?

Yes. They're on 94 (Edens) just south of Tower road (and north of Willow).

I'll run it over to kinko's again... and hopefully have it to give to you over the weekend sometime.

Maybe I should make a few copies... for future use?

I can make more copies at work and bring them to the next meeting, or send them to someone if you need it sooner.

Just a thought, but do you think we should ask the editors of JPFreek that it's ok to use the article for promotional purposes?
Don't want to step on any toes. 8)

Yeah I'm thinking that's a real good idea.

There is Custom Autosound on Rt 31 in North Aurora. I don't know them but they have some wicked 4x4's in the lot and I've heard they do off road stuff along with sound systems. I have no idea how receptive they'd be? Isn't there a place in McHenry? Maybe not?

Other than that, you really don't want to know who else I know.

I got a voicemail from Frank, the editor at JP Freek, and he approved us using the article.

The other thing I wanted to bring up real quick was creating a "new members" packet. I was thinking that we could hand this out to new members that show up at events/meet & greets/etc. This would contain the following:
- LOST flyer
- LOST cards to hand out to other potential members
- JP Freek article
- list of upcoming events
- list of local (statewide) dealerships/4x4 repair shops that have been used by other members
- list of sponsor/vendors of LOST and their contact info
- list of local off-road venues

Does anyone else like this idea? Is there anything else that should be added to the list?

Thanks for checking with JPFreek, Ann. I like the ideaof the new member packet! I'm working Saturday :( so I'll be able to print up a few copies of the Liberty spread.

I think that is an excellent idea.

Which reminds me, when I bought my KJ from Crossbones, he gave me a bag of LOST tokens (they look like casino chips in various colors. some are black, white, gray & green) with the LOST web site on them. He got them from the original owner who was once a member here, I guess. Does anyone know what these were / are used for?
