So let see if I got this right....

You found a good deal on this bumper, talked to Tom about it. He offered you a little more for it and you agreed to it. Then a 3rd party offered you a trade for a gun that you want and you decided you really want the gun. Then you let Tom know your leanning towards the gun trade instead of the original deal and Tom got upset about it.

Sound about right?

mainly right except i never agreed to tom's deal.

I was going by this last post on this section Tom

oh yeah and about that trail ready rear bumper. After discovering that I would have to take off my rear tire and build or buy a swing out tire carrier, it has stayed in its box in my garage

Yep knew you can't run spare on stock holder but theres ways around that  and not with a tire swing
Mounting the ARB is a 90 minute to 2 hour at most job, so what took the rest of your time?

Tom would know for sure, Im just guessing on the tire carrier flip it only moves my tire up about 2" and it interferes with the glass.

Wow that looks like a shaker to me
looks like with a heavier tire on it would move quite a bit and shake rattle and ..........make ya crazy

You could always use one like Ted has on his KK which was made by Detours
goes into the trailer hitch
but there are ways to make one for about 5-6 bucks that would work great
actually have one laying out in the garage right now , I prototyped one, used it on mine for a while after I made it to see if it would work, it did so I removed it :-)r

The issue with that bumper is that the tire would not only have to either go up higher( which would not allow you to just open the glass) OR it would need to sit down over the bumper
IF,.........I was doing it and wanted to run the spare on the door I would mount the bumper
then sit the tire up where I wanted it to sit, make a bracket to weld to the bumper that the tire would sit against / on. That bracket would make it easier on the tail gate ( not so much weight hanging there) Then all you'd have to is make brackets from the door out to the tire, which is where my home grown bracket would come in
also would be able to mount a hi-lift etc behind the tire
So now that I've saved you a bunch of time and money........

Hmmmm a couple of spidertrax might do it.

Im interested in the solution as im toying with a flat steel rear bumper that doesnt have a recess for the tire.

Problem with that is the leverage of the weight of the tire on the door and mounting points.
could work maybe but I think on the bumper "he" has you'd need more than 2 spacers although it would also depend on the back spacing of the wheels
