I used to subscribe to this magazine but it took a bad turn a few years ago. At the time I dropped my subscription I was part of their target market as a TJ owner. Even though they insulted every other Jeep model, they were always good to the TJ. I still dumped them.
It seems that the magazine is being run by a bunch of junior high school wanna be writers. Most of their writing seems like people arguing over who got drunker last night. Nothing against drinking here... I just got tired of the "all juvinile all the time"
theme of the rag.
Every time they review a new Jeep model, after much investigation, they determine that it is not a Wrangler and they go on and on about how it ought to be more Wrangler-like. If Jeep tried to survive with only one model (as good as the Wrangler is) they would fail and there would be no Jeeps for anyone. Sure, Jeep has had a few models over the years that didn't work out but every manufacturer makes mistakes. Of course a magazine dedicated to Jeeps is expected to provide constructive criticism and inform its readers. All I can say is I got really tired of their moronic, shallow, predictable and juvenile rants. Just my
On the plus side, the one thing that gets me to pick it up and read it in the grocery store (no way I'm buying it) is the section on Jeep rumors (I think they call it Dispatch). That is often interesting to read. I think every Jeep owner wants to know all the rumors about what might be coming in the future.
As for their treatment of the Liberty, when I still read their magazine, I read all the criticism. I still bought a KK. I guess they didn't get through to me and I don't really care what they think. I like my KK, it is what I wanted and I can say that as someone who has owned and loved a TJ since 1999. My TJ is great but so is my Liberty... and I can actually hold a conversation with my passengers in my KK while driving.
My father always told me that it was a fact of nature that there were more horse's a#$es than there were horses... he just didn't tell me they ran a magazine.
Sorry for sugar coating everything. I'll let you know if I ever develop an opinion on this.
