At what point is it worth buying a fuel efficient vehicle?

True that!

i had one when my "DD" got 6mpg at best, which meant unless i was going wheelin, or it was simply too cold or messy, it stayed parked

I'm thinking of getting another vehicle also but not for better mpg's though.More to keep the miles lower on my KJ and have that spare vehicle when/if the KJ breaks down.The only thing that keeps me from actually buying one is I will only buy a new vehicle(it's not about the $$ either) and I can't stand ABS/ESP so I guess no new vehicle.

I did test drive one of the new '10 Taurus SHO's the other day,all I can say is ABS and ESP might not be so bad cause that thing rocked.The saleman had a little accident on the test drive(he got scared :ROTFL:

),had to drive back with the windows all down and breathing through my mouth.Guess I'm not welcomed back at the Phil Long Ford dealership anymore.

haha those SHO's are bad bad cars

my neighbor, guy I restored tractors and stuff with, he bought the 2nd year of the SHO i think it was

it had about 10 miles on it when he took me for a ride in it, and i almost had an accident myself - really gotta trust the fool behind the wheel when doin that, it doesn't bother me when im behind the round thing but when it's someone else

ugh

only two people i trust like that, my middle brother, and my neighbor (more so then than now, hes since had a really bad car accident that caused him some brain / eye sight issues)

they were a beast FWD, just aim the front wheels and go, who cares what the rear tires are doin back there, they don't do anything but roll

I absolutely love having a spare vehicle around. So nice to be able to get around if maintenance/repairs on a vehicle take longer than expected. I really don't think I would want to return to having just two vehicles.

Why buy new? There are a lot of worthy used vehicles out there.

Don't expect much,those are some heavy a $ $ rims.

Just remember no more then 30psi for the 8 bolt H1's or 50psi in the 12bolt H1's.

Pick up another 3/4 ton Dodge Ram with a Cummins that has body damage to the totaled point. Find a 2WD JK (lots in FL) and drop the body onto the Dodge Cummins Frame. Great project for an advanced auto shop classes that would teach the kids something besides Karl Marx was smart and Sarah P is not.
Hope you get a chance to help Educate kids instead of Indoctrinate them.
Besides a JK that got 22-23 MPG would look cool, impress intelligent people and piss off Prius owners who worship Karl Marx. :pepper:
