The wife and I spent the week before last in and out of the hospitall, because our 5 month old girls got bronchitis and had fevers of 101 and when they did chest XRays on Reagan, they saw an abnormality in her arm that could be a tumor. We are waiting to see a specialist about it. The 2 doctors we saw so far said it looks like a growth abnormality meaning, since she was 3 months premature, her arm may be behind in developing still. So we are hoping the specialist tells us the same thing.

I spent all day in the ER today. Chest pain turned out to be pleurisy, an irritation, inflammation of the covering of the chest wall and lungs, and even though it hurts like crazy, I'm not going to die which made my wife happy.

While I was there I had blood drawn and an IV put in, for pain meds and fluids and the guys trying to put my IV in messed up 3 times and gave up. The last time they tried the guy injected a ton of saline into my wrist to clear the line and vein, but the fluid went straight into the muscle which really friggin hurt and swelled up like a large grape. Turned out I didn't get the fluids or meds through an IV anyway, but both my hands and arms are bruised now.

The pain should go away in 10-14 days, so we'll see, but the doc gave me vicodin until then anyway.

It never seems to end but someone else always has it worse than you. At least that is what I tell myself.

yikes, i hope all of ya get to feelin better really soon

been kinda dog/house/kid sittin for my friend this week since his wifes been in the hospital since wednesday, they apparently gave her a staff infection when they did her ulcer surgery, shes in fairly rough shape, she had that one surgery where they leave you with like 1/4th of a stomach, then ended up with ulcers, she pretty much hasn't eaten in 3 months


have you ever had a RN or Tech give you an IV that blew out? It's pretty cool if the sight of blood doesn't bother you, i had one blow like 5 feet once :lol:

Take a guess at what type of medical "professional" gave me that IV :P

Thanks everybody.

I was giving blood once and was squeezing the little ball they give you and the lady didn't tape the needle in my arm and my blood pushed it out and onto the floor which made it unusable, and my blood shot all over the floor. Stupid lady. Wasted my time and my blood.

digger, we had to get peanutbutter shots (penicillin) and theyed basically come in, put is in formation, have us drop trou to mid cheek and theyed come by with a big basin of needles

if you clinched you'd shoot a stream out your buttcheek :lol:

i hated those shots, there was always something heavy that bounced around on your cartredge belt that would hit it every other step

tell ya what though.. those shots worked wonders

I always tell the blood suckers "This ain't no baseball game....you don't get 3 chances". If they can't do it in 2 tries, get someone else. When I was in the army hospital a young trainee went right threw my vein and I let out a yelp which scared her so she pulled out the needle...all the way! Blood all over her, me the bed and floor! A nice little fountain! :lol:

Inc; Hang in there. As for your daughter, my thoughts and best wishes are with her.

Yeah, giving blood can be such fun when the person isn't a RN. :roll: Not to be confused with LPN, or any other hospital worker classification. RN's are the only people in a hospital I completely trust. Including MD's.

I continue to give blood but don't really have difficulty with my veins.

sorry to hear about this mike. i wish you and the girls all the best. its been a tuff year for you all. hang in there and have faith in the lord. things seem to work out if you keep positive. i had my foot severed off not long ago. spent months in and out of the er. was in ICU for awhile. and i have surgery in two weeks still. it never ends. the er sucks. god bless!

well if you or your wife needs vent or mental release, you guys can always come here and pick on digger

a WM friend of mine had a lung condition similar to what ya got but on top of hers she had a nasty blood clot too, it did not look fun at all, really hate you and ya girls gotta go through any of that stuff ya got goin on

i'd honestly rather have malaria again than deal with any lung infection or one of those 7 day flu's, atleast I was unconcious through most of it

Guy I'm working with had a stomach reduction like JeepinJarhead03 was talking about. He got a staff infection too and was in a coma for like 3 weeks. He came too when they took him off life support...

Thats one scary surgery. My wife talks about it now and again, but I prefer her fat to dead.

YIkes sorry to hear about all that. That is crazy.

I have been to the ER twice in the last two weeks for dislocated shoulder.

I know it sucks being in there.

boiler,

she had the reduction thing like 3 months ago or so, kept having trouble with throwin up her food, throwin up minimal amts of blood etc

every time they did endoscopys they said something about more and worse ulcers, till she had one that was bad and bleeding, and the next day had actually caused a hole in her stomach, so into the hospital for them to sew up the ulcer which was when she got the infection, supposivly

theyve had her on iv fluids but ya know.. she hasn't had nutrition for anything substantial for like 3 months, and she just keeps gettin worse.. i have difficulty thinkin she'll get much better very soon without nutrition :?

makes ya realise sometimes why they call it Medical "Practice" :roll:

when my gma was in hospice/nursing home my mother called to find out what medical practice they were taking gma to for evals, and the lady on the phone said "Oh mam.. it's not a practice, they're Real doctors! :shock:

mate pleurisy is a pain , feels like someone is twisting a dagger every time you breath

They gave me vicodin, which I thought knocked me out, but it doesn't really even take the pain away, much less make me tired. :roll:

I busted my wrist one time and they gave me Soma, a muscle relaxer, and it was what I was secretly hoping they would give me for this. :shock:
