Jeep Wrangler with a 2 year old

I am interested in picking up a used Jeep Wrangler but this will be my primary vehicle and I have a 2 year old. Is there anyone on here that has or had a Wrangler and put a child in the backseat. I am not finding much positive or negative about doing this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has a picture of a car seat in the backseat of a wrangler that would really help.

Where i live in Parker, people have child seats in teh back of wranglers all the time. The newer ones like 96 up or so have the child seat brackets behind the rear seat for it to clip into.

Ya know, I dont want to sound so negative, but here I go.

I would not put a child in a wrangler that is less that 5 years. Actually, I would not at all. If you have the newer JK and hard top, then I would be alittle safer.
I am just too concerned about safty with the older wranglers. The safty is much better now, but other people are getting worse on the roads.......

the tubs seem to be higher/deeper in the new JK's than the older TJ's and older

My friend and his wife had a TJ that they kept through two kids. The only problem they ever had was the logistics of getting the child into the seat when the top was up. But it's no harder than getting them into the rear seat of any other 2-door vehicle with a tiny back seat.

Personally, I wouldn't get anything older than a TJ, and I'd probably look for a TJ Unlimited (that some people call the LJ).

I had my grand daughter in my TJ a lot. Only with the hard top though (didn't have a soft top at the time). I found it was easiest to put in the car seat from the back, then when she was really young I put her in through the back as well. As she got to where she could climb into the car seat I would put her in through the front and buckle her from the back. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, just a bit of a pain.

It can be done.

It was a pain getting 16 year old friends into the backseat of my TJ, I can't image a 2 year old would be much worse, hell might even be easier.

Carted All three of my boys in the backseat of the JY and TJ's until they got to darn big to fit back there anymore.

my girl (2 yrs 4 months) & i love cruisin around in our 97' TJ. it's easier getting her in & out with the top off of course but still not too bad with it on as well. it's also no problem getting the seat in & out when necessary. she calls the TJ "sarge" from the cars movie. she's holding sarge in the pics hehe. it's really windy back there for her when the tops down (ponytail holders are a must!). here's a couple of pics for ya!

The only reason I wouldn't take the youngsters with the top off is they tend to throw stuff out of the Jeep.
