I was in need of a refund for a set of Fog Lights (Hella 4000) that wouldn't fit my Jeep. After I ordered them, I found some more accurate measurements of the lights and realized there was no way they would fit on my Jeep.

Their website says they accept returns: within 30 days for new/uninstalled parts. After 30 days ... a case by case basis and a 30% restocking fee.

My Fog lights were new and uninstalled. I never actually removed them from the box they shipped them to me in. They still wanted to charge me the restocking fee. I said NO, your published policies say you don't charge me a restocking fee (they do now). I shipped them back.

I kept calling and emailing them to find out the status of my return. No replies and no returned calls. After 4 weeks I get a UPS claim package that states some of the parts were damaged. Fill this stuff out and fax it in and maybe we'll send you a check. ... another unanswered phone call to PORC. I filled out the claim and faxed it in. 3 days later a small box from the !@#%!@ at PORC ... it has the set of damaged lens covers. Let me see ... lights won't fit ... return lights for refund ... What am I to do with these lens covers??

There was an envelope with a credit memo: Broken covers can't be given credit-reshipped back to customer. 30% restocking fee applied to lights for return. One light missing hardware bag.

I spent $247.20 and they sent me a check for $153.98 That is a 38% difference.

As far as anything missing or damaged ... I can't say ... I didn't remove and inspect anything before I shipped it back. From now on I will pull out the video camera and film the unpacking process of any items I order in the future, load it on the Mac and send it to the company if I have any discrepancies.

My personal opinion: This sounds like a company that will go to great links to extort any money they can from their potential customers.

I filed a complaint with the Better Businees Bureau and the Attorney General's Office of Georgia. I'm sure nothing will come of it, but it is something I can do along with informing others about the business practices of PORC.

If anyone is members of other forums feel free to copy this and post it on those sites as well.

P.S. I just noticed my bank REVERSED the deposit of the refund they sent me and charged me an $8 fee. I should find out Monday why.

Well, it is true, the refund check was returned "Insufficient Funds". I was charged a fee as well.

Looking around, it appears the Attorney Generals Office in Georgia doesn't handle this type of situation as does the one here in Arkansas. I did find some legal recourse though, through the AG's website. I sent an official letter to PORC requesting refund, service fee and service charge fee reimbursement within 10 days of receipt of letter. Failure to do so will result in a warrant being issued by local municipality.

I did contact Hella USA, Inc. via email since Performance Off Road Center is listed on their website as a distributor. I was interested in having Hella terminate them as a distributor for their products. The response I received was interesting. PLEASE CALL ME ... work:direct line, toll free & cell number. He did not want to discuss the information he had over the internet, but does have something interesting (probably not comforting) to tell me about PORC.

We'll see what happens.

I gotta say thank you for this thread.

Day you posted it they released the new Yukon lockers for the JK. They are about 50 bucks cheaper than the competition, I'm glad I saw this before I bought. Guess I'll just have the lockers price matched instead.

If somebody ELSE bounced a check to YOUR acct, then your bank shouldn't charge YOU a fee.

Daspes, I'm glad someone benefitted from this thread.

T-Bird: Regions Bank will charge PORC a $20 or so service fee as well for the bounced check. I agree, I don't think I should have been charged a fee too.

Join the bandwagon my friend.. If I deposit a IFS check at my bank which is bancfirst.. I am charged $25 for IFS and then on top of that they try to send it back through again and if it doesn't clear the 2nd time I get my $25 back and they turn the check over to me to personally go collect.. 8) :lol:

If it goes back the 2nd time and actually goes through they deduct $25 from my account.. but if it don't go through.. I get to personally collect it the fun way :P :twisted:
