Ouch... man I'd never get anything to do with the government.. but then again I'm very cautious when it comes to anything government related.. When I get my money for school I wait for 30 days to cash it because I'm afraid it might be a hot check or something.. Information on Operation Northwoods got me wondering if they tried it in the 60's why wouldn't they try it now?? |

so is that worse than just being dead? the Flu on average, kills 30,000 - 40,000 people a year. they called her disease Dystonia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dystonia they don't know what the cause is, and there are treatments for it. there is no treatment for death |

Um.. Honestly let's put it this way ATXKJ.. Would you rather be unnormal in this judging society or would you rather be dead? I for one would rather die if I had to suffer through pain because I know that in the end where I'm going so I have something to look forward to because I'm only temporarily here.. |

so make that calculation for 1 person affected by the vaccine They're trying to vaccinate 100 million people - if you ask 100 million people to walk across the street not all of them are going to make it. Texas has already had 50+ people die for the flu it's not even flu season yet and if you ask the Mom of the 5 year old girl that died from it if they could have gotten the vaccine - she'd be alive |

Okay so lets say they do vaccinate all 100mill you realize that leaves lets just say near 6.69 billion people left that didn't get vaccinated.. What I'm trying to get at ATX is there's no rhyme or reason to go and get this stupid vaccine when it's a known fact only 5% of the people in the world gets the flu YEARLY... It's a waste of time and money.. not to mention it's a health hazard anyways because if the flu vaccine worked then it would work every year when it doesn't Fact of the flu shot is this, you are more likely to get it when you get the shot because it's still the same strain of flu that's been going on for 100's of years just a different variation so who knows exactly if you will prevent it or not because you may get Type A flu when Type B is the vaccine for the Shot.. So I mean just think about it.. it's an astronomical number and you are taking away from the fact of the story here, and I think that we should agree to disagree and honor this girl for fighting for her life. |

My 18 month old grandson has it now but he seems a little better today. Hopefully my 4 month old grandson does not get it. I hear if you don't get within a week of contact with someone that has it you should be in the clear. |

Within human history there have been a few ideas that have dramatically improved the human lifespan - vaccines are one of those ideas are they perfect - no but they're safer that you driving to the corner store. (FYI - the 100 million vaccines 200,000 flu cases and 30-40,000 deaths are US only - so your divisor is off) |

I hope your grandsons are okay. my grandson's 6 and I worry a lot. - Austin had a couple of weeks where the hospital was getting 200-300 cases a day - they had to put up tents outside the Children's hospital, most did okay - but the girl that died went from happy, healthy and playing to dead within 48 hours, and she made the papers - the others were just numbers. as to the Girl in the youtube - I understand that all the statistics don't matter if you're the 1 in a million where it doesn't work, but if that stops you from getting a vaccine, you're on the wrong side of reality. |

No offense but it's always gotta be a texan trying to make a point.. especially to a stubborn okie  I have OCD really bad so I'm not too worried about getting the Swine Flu.. I only get sick about 1 to 3 weeks out of a year so not too terribly bad.. Also just because you may or may not be a longhorn fan don't get a big head you guys haven't played OK State yet  Not saying I like the Oklahoma teams as I'm a big Tech fan...

in all honesty, and not statistically (because statistics have nothing to do with reality in most cases) the vac doesn't always keep you from getting the flu, so a portion of the people that get the vac still get the flu, and a very WIDE majority of those deaths are children and elderly and yet another portion of that same portion died due to the flu complicating a pre-existing condition that was going to kill them anyway eat ya veggies take ya vitamins, drink plenty of water and wash ya hands and stay away from what I call "Human Contagions" unfortunately for many of us staying away from HC's isn't a viable option and that's where the flu vac comes in at

If you (anyone) live in your own little isolated world by all means don't get the shot. But most of us live in a congested world where we are in contact with a lot of other people. Why would you shun the shot and risk contacting the flue and giving it to your family members? Be a little more responsible please. I would hate to think how I would feel if I gave it to my grandchildren and lost one of them. Terry |

I'm one of those people. The reason? Because every time I get a flu shot, I get the flu. Not just a "little bit" of the flu, but it wipes me out for a week at the very least. And when I don't get the flu shot, I seem to be fine. I realize that what I do might be construed as gamble for some, but I also am a firm believer of what jarhead said about veggies/vitamins/water/wash. Does the vaccine help people? Sure, probably most people... but I know my own personal history with flu shots. I don't want to think about what getting the H1N1 vaccine would do to my system - that in itself could kill me. Times two I have never received a flu shot in my life. And I never will unless forced to at gun point, My mothers side of the family any one of them that has ever gotten the shot(s) has come down with the flu within a few days it seems. I work in some of the most contaigous areas there is when I do part of my job every day, going in and out of peoples apartments and homes. One thing I heard recently which makes a lot of sense was from a Doctor friend of mine ( who by the way does do the shots for people wanting them). He stated that people are taking so many shots anymore and that their immune systems are basically shutting down and relying on shots instead of what nature intended. You may get the flu but then the body builds up a better stronger immune system the next time and so on and on . The old saying that it doesn't hurt a kid to eat a little dirt is so true. Problem is anymore everyone runs to the Doctor at the slightest little ache, pain whetever and our immune systems are going down hill and not guarding our bodies anymore |

Alot of doctors will tell you that the best way to keep from getting sick from anything..is to wash your hands correctly. Wearing a mask does not help...well it helps those that sell masks. I don't get sick often. Whenever I have gotten the flu shot..I got the flu. I had the flu many times when I was young and I've been told that I have a natural immunity now. I will not be getting a flu shot. Just wash your hands. The foam anti-bacterial is quick and easy. And fun for the kids....and me too. |

Some of you may be in for a rude awaking. I hope not though! Just remember that the so called swine flu is NOT the same as the common flu we see every year. What works for the common flu will not work for the swine flu. Good luck.
