Picked up this 87 westy for parts today, paid $1150. Only one other person bid on it. NO ONE bid on it during the live auction, if the other person who put in a proxy bid of $1100 had not done so I might have gotten it for $50 oh well, can't look a gift horse in the mouth I suppose.

So now the plan is to find a good Syncro body(after doing the conversion on my Carat I'm not sure its worth the labor to do it on something other than a 4wd). And throw in a SVX motor after the westy conversion is done.

Best thing is it has a clean title, so I might be able to find a cheaper syncro without a title!

Picked it up from a Samba member today for $2700:









So now I just need time to get to work on it! Westy pop-top onto the van, and the whole interior from my donor, and it will look pretty sweet!

I watched that show on Discovery HD where two Brits turn around vehicles. They bought an old VW vanbus (forgot the model) and turned it into a nice beach cruiser.

I have, but there are gearing issues when putting in a TDI. Subaru engines are an excellent mate, just only gassers in the US.

Though the 230hp SVX engine does look appealing!
