Good luck....those picture we're taken 60 years ago.... lol
Most of those are probably piles of rust by now.

Yeah, I saw the dates, I was just kidding about the shipping back part. But just for arguments sake:
Think about how many of those that have sat out for 60 years and have been found in farm fields and similar places around the states that have been salvaged and restored... Plus there has to be something useful on some of those (if they are still there). Granted, most are probably piles of rust, but it would be interesting to see pictures of those same places now. I wonder if the Japanese gov't has crushed them all for scrap metal by now? Maybe they are reused as the metal for all the japanese cars. :)

Good point.

I'd laugh if they did. That means they're driving vehicles that were used to kill their parents/grandparents/etc. lol

Think about how many of those jeeps were melted down and turned into Toyotas and Hondas.
WWII vets told me about new trucks that were dumped overboard into the Pacific Ocean to save the economy after the war.
It is what they did back then.
I will be surprised if most of the basic HumVes are not left in Iraq and Afghanistan after those conflicts wind down.

They learned that through a lot of hard work and good engineering. Good for them.

More importantly today, I wonder where they learned how to make cars that accelerate out of control and then suppress information about the danger - putting their customer's lives at risk just so they wouldn't look bad (as shown in the emails between high-level Toyota executives that were released recently). It really makes me wonder how much of their quality reputation is based on reality and how much depends on the suppression of evidence to the contrary.

Nothing personal toward you and I'm not trying to put words in your mouth. I'm just not very impressed by them (I'm only refering to Toyota) when they have been caught red-handed knowingly putting the lives of their customers at risk just to protect a reputation they apparently don't deserve. Then they try to gloss things over by running commercials about how important their customers are to them. I find their behavior disgusting and pathetic.

But that isn't what this thread is about anyway. More on point, I'd love to have one of those old Jeeps too. It is an amazing sight to see all of those Jeeps lined up together :D !
