Machinist's Workshop magazine actually tested penetrants for break out torque on rusted nuts. They arranged a subjective test of all the popular penetrants with the control being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" environment.

Penetrating oil Average load

None ..................... 516 pounds

WD-40 .................. 238 pounds

PB Blaster ..............214 pounds

Liquid Wrench ...... 127 pounds

Kano Kroil ............ 106 pounds

ATF-Acetone mix... 53 pounds

The ATF-Acetone mix was a "home brew" mix of 50 - 50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone.

Note: The "home brew" was better than any commercial product in this one particular test. Note also that "Liquid Wrench" is about as good as "Kroil" for about 20% of the price.

Not my data, just passing it on as I found it interesting....

There is an old home brew for cleaning rusted parts with ATF/Acetone in a pail that you let the parts sit in. Supposedly they come out shiny new in a day or so. I have not done it myself.

Ah! That explains it all. You really should try the Long Island Iced Tea of lubes. A combo of PB Blaster, WD-40, and KY Jelly. Taste is out of this world....and the ladies will love you long time for a certain other use.....

We started using the 50/50 ATF/Acetone on Waste Water Equipment shafts that are corroded with something worse than salt, Hydrogen Sulfide. It works better, what more can I say.
The one advantage PB Blaster is that it is in an aerosol can and more convenient.
But when you are using a 12 ton to 20 ton hydraulic jack plus a 20 pound sledge to get a gear box off a shaft, results are more important than convenience. When the spiral on the shaft going into the gearbox costs more than our Jeeps, they don't want to not get it apart.
