Friday I leave on a 3500+ mile journey to provide support for the BABE Rally. This is a 5 day photo scavenger hunt taking the teams from New York (Big Apple) to New Orleans (Big Easy), with all teams competing in vehicles purchased for $500 or less. Grumpy was originally purchased to compete in this event, but due to team issues I've become an event marshal.

Post up anything there is, even if its not Jeeps. Been reading and watching for a while now and sounds like a ton of fun. Would be interesting to see what kinds of vehicles are entered.

maybe next year I should buy some junk keep for $500 or less and do this. :D

Wonder is anyone's selling a CJ for 500 that runs and drives. :D

With the seats folded down there is a flat area big enough for me to sleep on.

Lao Tzu said, "The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step." In my case, the journey of 3500 miles starts with the drive to work. Left home all packed this morning, work for 9 hours, then drive to my parents near Bloomington/Normal, IL.

ScanGaugeII says 23.7 miles @ 21.2 mpg.

Monday, June 7th - Best Western Harrisonburg Inn, Harrisonburg, VA
Tuesday, June 8th - Best Western Newport Inn, Newport, TN
Wednesday, June 9th - Best Western of Murphy, Murphy, NC
Thursday, June 10th - Best Western Gadsden Hotel & Suites, Gadsden, AL
Friday, June 11th - Holiday Inn French Quarter-Chateau Lemoyne, New Orleans, LA (Trying to get together with Bub - KJ 119)
Saturday, June 12th - ?
Sunday, June 13th - Home

On the nights with hotels listed come on by and check out the rolling wrecks.

Grumpy did great. Marshaling had me busier than I thought, thus the lack of posts. I'll start posting the trip reports tonight.

I want to thank Bub and family once again for their hospitality. Bub, thank you so much for giving my father and I a place to stay for the night and for the wonderful breakfast. If you ever find your way near Chicago, we'll return the favor. I'll have another special delivery for you at ECS.
