i saw that article, first thing i thought of was that movie "Eagle Eye".

I used to work for a company who hired me to tweak the signatures which sift through network traffic for various routes in and out of other particular networks, some of them included signatures that ran inside networks that you typically assume to be encrypted

Much of it was IDS sigs

but not all of it

That "perfect citizen" crap's been here for well over 4 years

If you want something private, encrypt it on your side, and your targets side at the host and don't rely on web/cloud based encryptions as yahoo, msn mails etc all have these signatures operating inside their encrypted traffic
