My company uses Auto Cad for the designers and engineers. Up until a few months ago my Turbo Cad 9 would open the Auto Cad files.
Will I need to Purchase Turbo Cad 16 or 17 to work with the latest version of Auto Cad?
Thanks

I don't work with Turbo CAD but I've worked with roughly the last 4-5 versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture(ACA), and now the last two versions of Revit and based on my experiences, the programs have gotten more and more finicky to want to make sure it is only compatible with the latest version. Although, in ACA/ ADT/ AutoCAD, you can still save back, thus if someone else saves it back for you, you should still be able to work in it, but it may have bugs.

So my short answer is, if someone has opened your file in the latest version and didn't save it back, it is likely you will need the newest version of Turbo CAD. If your lucky enough to have someone who can save it back for you, then you'll still be able to use your older version of Turbo.

But again, I've never had to use Turbo CAD, so there may be a work around that I'm not aware of.

Hope that helps!

x2 on Jmichael's comment. I use AutoCAD 2011 at work (Along with Pro/E and SolidWorks and Inventor, and... shall I go on?) And like he said, just save as AutoCAD 2000, R13, or even DXF and you should be good to go with TurboCAD.

I use dwg gateway to load ACAD versions higher than the one I have. It's a free ACAD addon that you can get here: http://download.cnet.com/DWGgateway/3000-6677_4-10626295.html You can save up or down with it.

Thanks all, I ordered Turbo Cad 17 for ~$78.99 from Amazon. My current version is Turbo Cad 9 that was a replacement for Turbo Cad 8 (that locked up and did not work) that I bought out of the clearance rack in a Staples store in Providence, RI for $15.
