Took the dog outside and dang near stepped on a slug. I had set some food out for a cat, but I guess the slug got to it first!   and he actually carried it from the pile. I took it away from him and set it back in the pile... I'll check on him later

Just one? My poor dog gets 4-5 that size on her bowl every night, they leave slime trails all over back porch. |

Same dang slugs I got around my place all in the flowers and neighbors garden. Sick little creatures but work great for catching Pike up in Michigan. |

I am confused. Dog food set out for the cat? No cat food? I would go somewhere with the slimey slug and another name for a cat but won't go there

From Wikipedia, something to think about for the day: Slugs are hermaphrodites, having both female and male reproductive organs. Once a slug has located a mate, they encircle each other and sperm is exchanged through their protruded genitalia. A few days later the slugs lay around 30 eggs in a hole in the ground, or beneath the cover of an object such as a fallen log. Apophallation is a commonly seen practice among many slugs. In apophallating species, the penis curls like a corkscrew and during mating often becomes entangled in the mate's genitalia. Apophallation allows the slugs to separate themselves by one or both of the slugs chewing off the other's penis. Once its penis has been removed, the slug is still able to mate using only the female parts of its reproductive system. Who knew?? |
