Been there several times. If you're staying in the Stateline area, Harvey's Resort & Casino is a great place.

As for what to do - Depends on what you and the wife are into? You left the impression neither of you snow ski or snow board, but there are other outdoor adventures to do there. Mind you, the South region is really touristy compared to the north region. I prefer the north just for that reason. Indoors activities (in the south region) mostly consist of casinos.

One trip I've yet to do was rent a Jeep and circle the entire lake region. Doing this you would experience different terrains and climates. But you'd need at least a week to fully enjoy a adventure like this.

I would suggest you go to the Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureau website (if you haven't already?) and check out the region. I also prefer the Nevada side but there are excellent locales on the Cali side too. Other than that, Tahoe is hands-down, no question, the most beautiful (regardless of time of year) location of the three you're considering and probably the most expensive too. Then again, that will depend on what you and the wife want to do? Whether you go this Thanksgiving or another time, Tahoe is a place everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.

I live 30 miles from Tahoe, be prepared for a lot of snow.

There's normally a lot of snow by Thanksgiving? We would be around South Tahoe, in Stateline, NV.

Expect nites in the 20's and couple years ago it snowed here on Halloween day. Elevation in Tahoe/Stateline is over 6,000 ft. It's nice there, but ya it will be most likely cold and snow on Thanksgiving time.
