One kalv where woonded, and we happend to see it 1000 yards away across a field.
We did not come closer tha 250 yards, so I got down on my knee, aimed a little high and a little forwards.
Lucky shot, 2" behind the eye. The little moose went down whithout a single movment.
A 8 year old boy stood behind me, and he got the .30-06 shell right after the shot, smokin and warm. He was happy, probably will become a hunter... :D

So calf it is, I thought about how to spell it...
Well... I did not aim for the head. At that range I aimed at the biggest area to hit, so it was really a bad hit. (but verry effective...)
Would never shot a healthy animal at longer distanse than about 150 yards. Headshot is something I never try to do, this time it just happend to be...

My thought about this is not to brag, but more to tell about the feeling ef relief when the calf went down. It´s never fun when the prey walks away woonded, but sometimes doo doo happens. The first shooter is really a good shooter, but he had a little bad luck this day. He shot at a range of about 60 yards, hit it in the belly. But only 3" from a good hit.

And yes. We hunt the calf. The directions is to shoot 50% calf.

This actually makes sense. Nature's law is survival of the fittest. U.S. hunting law is to kill the fittest. Bad for the species.
