Looks great but just like the Wrangler/Unlimited will be WAY too expensive for what it actually is. |

I'll be the first one in line! I've been waiting for Jeep to produce something like this since the Gladiator concept was introduced! |

Well, "don't call it a pickup" I actually do kind of like it, but would be unpractical for me...wife and 2 kids won't all fit into it. |

I would buy that Dodge Dakota in Jeep sheet metal and put an RTT over the bed and rock it as a cool expo vehicle. |

Quote: What about the Brute conversion kits? As far as i'm aware, the Brute kits are not available for the JK's. I Believe they're only for the TJ's. |

According to Allpar report on what Marchionne stated the Dakota was to be replaced with a Fiat based, El Camino styled lifestyle vehicle...of course I can't find that article on Allpar right now to link it. |

If it comes out it will most likely have a 4 door option - thats one of the things that killed the MJ in the early 90's, only a single cab, when extended cabs and 4 doors were all the rage. There's no way you can only sell single cab pickups in todays market and hope to stay afloat with it, hell I'm surprised ford never tried to bring over the 4 door ranger from mexico. |

I’m subscribing to this thread just for the sake of being hopeful. I think a Jeep pickup would be a hot item.

"The idea of a Jeep Wrangler pickup got new life after remarks at a 2010 dealer meeting. The 2005 Gladiator concept truck was driven on-stage and there was an indication that something like it might be made. Some have suggested that expansions by aftermarket Jeep modifier AEV would herald a limited production Wrangler-based pickup, produced with the blessing and assistance of Chrysler, while others believe it would be a pure Jeep design produced at the Toledo Supplier Park. At the 2011 Detroit auto show, Sergio Marchionne said it would probably be a Wrangler-based vehicle with a short bed, and would not be called a pickup, presumably to calm Ram brand fears. Two other new pickups have been rumored recently, one a relatively small, Ram 50-sized model -- both Ford and GM upsized their pickups, and Dodge has not sold a true compact pickup since the A-series. This would be powered by a hot-rodded World Gas Engine belting out at least 200 horsepower. The other is the mysterious Dodge Dakota replacement, lighter and more economical than the current model, but still quite capable -- the so-called "lifestyle Dakota." Years ago, when we first broke the story on this new truck, we quoted a Dodge rep saying that it would still be capable, just not as capable. That one was last seen on the minivan platform, but that might have been before they closed St. Louis. Somewhere in the mix is the upcoming one-ton Dodge truck for Europe. Engineer Bob Sheaves pointed out that European standards are different for trucks, and that a one-ton truck in the E.U. would be rated lower in the U.S. This model could be the upcoming Dakota, an offshoot of the Ram 1500, the Wrangler pickup, or possibly even the Ram 50 replacement." http://www.allpar.com/model/upcoming.html |

In that same article it also discussed the Fiat based Dakota and had a "picture" included. EDIT: Found it... http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/2011/01/chrysler-looking-at-two-new-pickups |
