FIRES !!!

I just saw the news and there is some fires at Lake Arrowhead. Thats kinda close to Big Bear isn't it? Im wondering if the All J's folks, well the city for that matter are going to be affected?

Luckily the wind is blowing the fires away from Big Bear.... unlucky for that part of the mountain though. Dang shame, the area that is burning is a very nice area and they are losing many homes. It won't be the same up there for a long time. :cry:

Not to mention all the other places on fire here in SoCal. I drove through Santa Clarita this past weekend and there was a ton of smoke. Could see trees on fire near the Ranger Station on I-5.

I always liked driving near Arrowhead, always pretty up in that area. Although anything beats LA.

I drive through Santa Clarita every day and it's ugly.
I just read that there is a new fire in Acton off the 14 Freeway - Driving home is going to suck.

Any of our San Diego members affected?

i work about 10 miles from the satiago fire. my boss just left, apperently his house is in the path!!!!!!!!!!! :shock:

Mandatory Evacuation Now For All Communities From Crestline To Big Bear Dam
Update 3:25 PM

Running Springs - According to John Miller from the US Forest Service, there is now a mandatory evacuation for all communities between Crestline and the Big Bear Dam. Cedarpines Park and Valley of Enchantment are still under a voluntary evacuation. Miller stated that the fire is now hitting Nob Hill. He was not sure if Pali Mountain Camp was damaged. There is active structure protection in Rimwood Ranch. Structures were reported burning at the top of Live Oak Drive and Poplar.

There are reports that the fire is making a run toward the Castle in Fredalba. Structures were reported to be on fire along Willow Drive and Poplar Drive in the western end of Running Springs.

Firefighters have begun evacuating 27 patients from Mountains Community Hospital in Lake Arrowhead. The fire is reportedly an imminent threat to Pali Mountain Camp. Fire officals are now concerned that the Slide Fire will make a run toward Lake Arrowhead and Cedar Glen this afternoon, according to reports.

How many fires are we talking about? I'm losing track ... there's one in Irvine next to one of our offices and definitely real close to my buddy's place.

Wonder how they're doing. Manuel's home is in the Trabuco/Modjeska canyon area.

this time the fires came within about 6-7 miles of our house, last time, 2003 they came to within 2.5 miles. we went up to a high spot yesterday evening and watched the "harris" fire crest a hill around 6 pm.

we went down with scott's work, san diego state university, on monday and handed out blankets to the evacuees.

I don't belive this is a complete map though, as there was considerable burning in Fredalba just southwest of Running Springs. I've seen some maps showing the fire burning down into the canyons south of RS.
Yesterday the fire had completely surrounded Running Springs.

The wind shifted this afternoon so we're starting to see the smoke blowing up into Big Bear this evening. From what I've heard the fire is also now moving northeast, which means it'll probably run into the area burned by the Butler Fire 2 a few weeks ago. Hopefully that'll provide a bit of a fire break.

Pretty much everything west of the dam is shut down. Hwy 18 on the north side from Lucerne Valley is open, as is Hwy 38 from Redlands.

Wind shift moved the fire over the mountain. Now moving toward Corona. They are evacuating Tom's Farm off the 15.

Bad news is it's on the dry side of the mountain that hasn't burned in over 50 years.
