Any one up for a dirty day in October at Twin Arch?
Hopefully we will get some soaking rain, because it's pretty dry there now. Let's see what happends over the next few days

I'm new to this area (and two months new to the site I think) so please bare with me. Do I need to be an official LOST NE member to run this trail? The next question is I saw the link of the trail requirements. I will have front hooks by then however, I don't have skid pates anywhere nor do I really plan to get them.

With that said, would I be able to run this trail? If so I might be around the last weekend of Oct to do it if anyone else is up for it. Oh, one other question, a friend of mine has a VW Tourege. He has the air ride suspension (more clearance than stock KJ’s) has hooks but also no skid plates - would he be able to come? . The pictures I saw of the trail seemed like skid plates might not be needed but I understand rules are rules so let me know where that leaves me.

If I get the nod the next and obvious question is where is the place? I think it’s in Monroe County, NY which I’ve been to before so I could get to the area but I would need directions to the trail. Also, My friend and I have been trying to put a trip together for some time now so if he’s not allowed I would be out too.

Thanks and feel free to PM me with info/questions. I would have PM’d one of you but I wasn’t sure who I should contact.

On a side note about 2 years ago I run some power line trails on an ATV up in that area and I’m racking my brain trying to figure out where it was b/c I think the trails were wide enough for a Jeep. Anyone know of the area I’m talking about? I want to say it was in a state park and there were lot’s of hunting stands in the trees so I’m sure people are back there hunting too.

Welcome to L.O.S.T man.
the answers;
Twin Arch has some hard under carraige areas but not too bad. You don't need skids here, but it is ALWAYS a good thing to have. The trails are open to any one who respectes it. This place is inbetween washingtonville NY and Monroe NY both in Orange county.
As long as you have some king tow point FRONT/BACK you will be ok in case you get stuck :twisted:

I am the one who got Twin Arch to be open to the L.O.S.T NE section.
you could always contact me about the place, and a few other guys on the NE section could help you out about the place.

Brian

Cool! I’ll get back to you later this week to let you know I I’ll be able to get up there or not. I would love to get skids, I know they make sense but it’s just not in the budget right now. That’ll be something I keep my eyes out for at junk yards but I hear they are hard to come by.

Hey, How's it going, welcome. Its been a while since I've been here, but I just wanted to add my 2-cents. I saw a VW SUV out at Paragon, and the guy fair quite well on the trails, and he'd most likely be fine at Twin Arch, but the hooks are really important, cause heck I got stuck, everyone does, you need at least one tow point, I think its safer to have three. If the skids are high for you, check out the OEM parts at the dealer, I just got a new engine skid, and I paid $39, cant beat that. Hope to see ya soon on the trails, Later, Steve
