Hello all, I'm having a possible issue with my KJ, sometimes when I come to a full stop there's a bump, moving me forward, but I have my foot on the break. Then sometimes it a little sound happens when I'm just starting out. Then sometimes, actually quite infrequently and I'm not sure if its just me because I'm trying to listen how the Jeep's running, but it seems as though the transition of gears is messed up. It doesn't seem to be as smooth as it used to. Granted, I have roughly 101800 miles.

Any help you guys can offer I'd really appreciate it, thanks Steve

hAVE YOU HAD YOUR TRANS FLUIDS CHANGED AT ALL YET?
SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AT 50K

ALSO CHACK IF YOUR TCASE IS LOW. THAT SHOULD BE CHANGED OFTEN

Yup, I put some more fluid in, and the color was good too.

Now, not to aske a stupid question, but leave it to the Navy guy to ask; so where is the TCASE, and how do I check it?

the t-case is what you shift gears in and 4x4 selection

When you get oil change, you should have them change the t-case fluid.

T-case is on driver side next to the drive shaft and behind the transmission oil pan. It's made of aluminum so you can't miss it. I'm pretty sure you check the level the same as you would the axles. If that is correct the fluid should be right at the lip of the bottom of the fill hole.

But I think it sounds like a transmission problem. I'd have it checked by a place you trust. Could be a lot, could be less than a lot.

Hey guys, thanks, I just bought another service plan for it, so I'm not as worried as I was.

I don't think so, dawg, I just paid 2378.64 for a one year contract, yeah, I know that's really pricy, but guess what my transmission is going, so I figured that paying the 200 deductable was better than paying all of it.

Last week, I had the transmission serviced. Oh, you know what, I thought that I never had the T-Case changed, but I've done that before, twice I think.

So, Bri, what's going on with your poor KJ?

Yeah, I know whatcha must be thinking, but after checking around and with laboor & all, I'd end up paying more, so buying a contract that covers more besides just the engine was somewhat worth it. It also has 103K miles on it.
