Saying goodbye to stock

Over the past week a few items arrived on my doorstep:

Full OME Frankenlift Premium II Lift Kit

Up until now, I have been really only wheeling at the beach (which gets old quick), so I would think with this lift on I could get a little more serious in my 4 wheel pursuits.
Heres the Libby as it sits now, stock suspension is blown out at 30,000 miles, especially with the ARB on the front end, and the occasional load of heavy downhill bikes on the rear hitch. The city streets alone are a pothole ridden adventure, so it's overdue for a suspension facelift.

JBA Gen 4.5 A-Arms to get that alignment into spec.

And a set of Stauns Tyre Deflators for airing down. These are awesome, and work perfect everytime, and lets you air all tires down at the same time. That means more time wheeling and less time waiting.

I also bought a high flow air compressor, so no more waiting in line at Smith Point for airing up. It now takes me about 10 minutes to fill all 4 tires from 18PSI to 35PSI.
Hopefully in two weeks I will find some time to get all this stuff in the Jeep, and then hitting up some real wheeling!
80 hour work weeks surely deserve sometime in 4Lo!

Have you been on the GCP in the last few weeks?
I have seen that KJ and pointed out to my wife but she missed it.
When are you doing the lift?
Since your tired of the sand, you should come up state to our adventure trails. (SHUT UP STEVE :lol:

) It is loaded with mud, DEEP holes and very hard deep ruts. You will love it. BODY DAMAGE less than 2% if your not watching.

Jeepdawg- that's most likely me on the GCP. I'm always on that parkway since I live in Astoria right before the Triboro (I mean ... RFK Bridge).
I've been up near Monticello once on some fun and very muddy trails. But that it for my northern wheeling so once I get these parts on, I should be game for some playtime. I'm always up that way hiking in Harriman, Fahnestock, and Cold Spring or mtn biking in Peekskill and Ninham forest. I'm hoping to get the lift in by the 15th. I'm working a lot right now, so a free weekend is a rare thing these days. Thanks for the invite and see ya on the parkway!

Hey Im may be doing my lift on the 16th and Im on long Island we should have a double lift party let me know. MY nabber has a lift and any tool we need.

Benny-I have not yet put the lift in. I have decided to wait till I get my air conditioner problems worked out with the dealer. I've had the KJ for close to 2 years now and the AC has been giving me more headaches than it should at 30,000 miles. So, before I sink more money into it, I will wait it out for a little while. Though it is killing me, that I have the lift and tires/rims, but can't put them in yet. Hopefully I can get the lift in by the end of the month if the dealer can fix my AC before I won't need it anymore! :roll:

Hey guys I just wanted to say whats up, I've been waiting to put my lift in too, no date yet.. and I don't own it yet either, haha. But I live in Fresh Meadows, Queens, and I work in Hicksville, LI, so its only right to say hello, lol.. Surprising I haven't seen LI_KJ's rig, I'm in Astoria aallll the time and GCP everyday.. one of these days maybe. Anyway, talk to you later guys.

I usually head out to Smith Point and take Burma road down to the Moriches Inlet if the road is open. Otherwise it's along the beach to the first cut, but even that has been closed quite a bit this past season due to erosion.
I also like to head out to Westhampton Dunes and drive out to the Inlet from Cupsouge. Not very far, but still driving offroad.
Been to Montauk Downs a few times and headed out along the beach there too.

I started beach driving myself this year and plan on doing it next year. Do you need permits to head out to the beaches you drive on? I know that Democrat point and gilgo beach you need the 4x4 fishing permit, still fun to drive around there.

I have never been on the beach at Democrat Point. I hear you need to get a permit early in the season, and they only give them out during that period. I would guess you need poles and a tackle box and be 'actively fishing' in order to get on the beach as well? Does the permit for Demo Pt/Gilgo get access to other parks?

The permit for outer beach access at Suffolk Parks was $90 I think and good for one calendar year. But I'm not sure if that was the resident fee? So, in 2010 there will be a new one offered. I usually buy mine in late Feb/Early March as that is when the beaches usually start to open for limited outer beach access. With a pole and tackle box you can usually head out east to the Moriches Inlet to fish. I buy the permit at the eastern camping/4x4 pavilion at Smith Point County Park. It's good for access to Cedar Pt, Shagwong, Smith Pt, and Shinnecock East (Cupsouge).

Captree- main field and overlook field
Jones Beach- fields 6, 10, west end #2 and west end boat basin
Gilgo, Sure thumb- permit valid 24 hours daily
Robert Moses (Democrat point)- field 2 all dates field 3 and 4 sept 14 to dec 31 only

Democrat point is mostly for fishing.
Hither Hills- year around except memorial day and labor day
Montauk Point- lower parking lot only
Sunken Meadow- Field 1 and 3 from sept 11 to dec 31

those are the beaches that im allowed to drive on with this permit. I just mostly get this permit for some 4x4 and for going to the beach on gilgo. You just have to make sure you have a shovel, jack board, a strap ,a toilet and a fishing pole. Most people just use a 5 gal bucket with with a garbage bag for a toilet. Seems like this is the only 4x4 we can get here in Long Island

Hey guys, still dreaming over here.. After seeing LI_KJ's truck, and reading about the Rancho shocks being discontinued, even though I'm going to get the OME's, I think I really want to finally put my lift in. I figured if one Jeep in NYC can do it, I should have the balls to do it too.. even though I'll still be putting a million miles on it, I guess, F- it, waiting isn't helping at all, lol.
LI_KJ, did you put it in yourself? or did you use a local shop? I wouldn't want to just take it to Shea and risk it.
I wouldn't want a shop to do it, I would def want to 'attempt' to do it myself, or maybe with one of you guys if you're bored, lol. (plenty of booze/food available, haha). And then some wheeling of course to test it out. I can dream right? lol.
